President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov on February 12 chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to review the outcomes of the official visit to the United Arab Emirates, the issues related to organizing and holding the Flag Day celebration and other important issues of the current state policy.
The cabinet ministers heartily congratulated the Turkmen leader on the great success of the visit and talks in the UAE, the coming holiday in honour of the glorious green banner of the Motherland and the third anniversary of electing Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov President of Turkmenistan.
Turkmen leader provided the interesting and useful information about the state symbols. Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov mentioned the Turkmen eight-pointed star that was depicted in the national symbols from ancient times and nowadays reflected in the state symbols of independent neutral Turkmenistan. The President said that the Turkmen star was not only a regional sign for it bound our country to world culture. It was a sign of unity, a sign of uniqueness, a symbol of happiness, prosperity, abundance.
Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov reported on the outcomes of the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates.
The President noted that the Investment Forum and the Commodity Exhibition of Turkmenistan, which had been held in Abu Dhabi before the Turkmen leader’s visit, was a great success that was illustrated by intense media interest in the UAE and across the world.
The Turkmen leader stated that economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates had a great future, and we must do our best to make effective use of the potential of collaboration.
Vice Premier H. Saparlyev reported on the preparations for the International scientific conference on the use of renewable energy sources in Turkmenistan, which would be held in Ashgabat on February 24-25.
Underscoring the role of the forthcoming forum in encouraging scientific research, ensuring close interrelation between science and industry, addressing urgent environmental problems, the Turkmen leader instructed Vice Premiers H. Saparlyev and M. Akmammedov to prepare and conduct an international scientific environmental forum in Turkmenistan.
Vice Premier H. Muhammedov reported on the work done in the sectors under his supervision and the preparations for Turkmenistan’s participation in World Expo 2010, which would be held in Shanghai, the People’s Republic of China between May 1 and October 31.
Commenting on the report, the President emphasized that at World Expo 2010 our country should showcase fully its versatile potential and capacity to develop mutually advantageous cooperation that would promote expanding effective business relationships with foreign partners.
Underscoring the need to further modernize the energy sector, the Turkmen leader instructed Vice Premiers D. Orazov and B. Hojamuhammedov to draft the proposals for reconstruction of the Mary power station.
