NewsGreatness of the capital greatness of the country11.03.2010 
This week President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip around the capital to see the progress in implementing the concept of the development of the main city of the country including the urban planning and landscape projects in Ashgabat and its vicinities.
The dynamic growth of Ashgabat brought about an increase in the number of vehicles in the city and as a result an increase in vehicular traffic flows in the city that in its turn required new approaches to building highways. In this regard the Turkmen leader said that every aspect including road surface, lighting, road signs, sidewalks and bosquets must meet modern standards.
During the flight the Turkmen leader examined the situation in the large construction sites on Archabil Avenue where a new administrative, business and cultural centre of the Turkmen capital was being formed. These were the Palace of Congress, the new administrative buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Construction, and other facilities. This impressive list included the Monument to the Constitution – a magnificent manmade symbol of the Turkmen state in the epoch of new Revival and grandiose reforms.
Upon concluding the flight the President gave the relevant instructions to the high-ranking officials related to construction of a new residential district Parakhat-7 with apartment houses and social facilities. Also, the Turkmen leader instructed to build several schools, kindergartens, sports and recreation facilities, multi-level car parks in Ashgabat. Approving the abovementioned construction projects, the future sites of which were seen from the helicopter, the President said that newly constructed buildings and facilities should blend well with the architectural ensemble of Ashgabat.
The Turkmen leader said that the ultimate goal of the strategy for renewing and developing the capital was to ensure a prosperous and comfortable life for the people. Harmony and comfort, high quality of life – these were the benchmarks which the programs on the development and beautification of the capital city, other towns and settlements throughout the country should be based on, the President said.
Then Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov continued the trip and drove a car along one of the busiest highways of Ashgabat Turkmenistan Bitarap Avenue towards an aquatic park with an artificial river under construction in the south of the capital. The President gave the instructions to improve the territory of the aquatic park and the recreation areas on both banks of the artificial river. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that this could be done through using the best landscape architecture practices, attracting innovative ideas, applying the traditional national decorative elements and modern design decisions.
There is no doubt that these tremendous projects will be fulfilled and even many more will start.
