Turkmenistan expands markets for electricity

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on August 8 chaired a working meeting to review the progress in implementing projects in the construction, energy and industrial sectors and the ways to develop further these industries. Vice Premiers T. Japarov and D. Orazov, the heads of the ministries and departments under their supervision and Ashgabat Khyakim Sh. Durdylyev were invited to the meeting. In particular, touching upon the issues related to further development of the energy sector, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov specified the priority tasks. These included construction of a gas turbine power plant with the capacity of 254 megawatts in Zerger settlement in Lebap Velayat, power transmission lines including the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi-Balkanabat section, construction and reconstruction of existing small transformer substations.
The measures aimed at increasing electric power exports included reconstruction of power generating units at the Mary State power station, construction of a 500kV power transmission line from the Mary electric power plant to the Turkmen-Afghan border, a 400kV Mary-Serakhs power transmission line to the Turkmen-Iranian border and power transmission lines from the Balkanabat State power station. Also, the Turkmen leader instructed to take necessary measures to ensure electric power supplies to the Republic of Kazakhstan and to study the feasibility of electric power exports to Pakistan via Afghanistan.
Addressing the Minister of Energy and Industry, the Turkmen leader emphasized that future large-scale projects should be implemented through attracting foreign investments.
 
Implementation of these ambitious plans and expansion of international cooperation in the power industry of Turkmenistan is the task of the 3rd International exhibition and scientific conference «The Basic Trends of Development of Electric Power Industry of Turkmenistan 2010» to be held on October 1-3, 2010
 
Two month prior the exhibition opening the 1st floor of the exhibition center in Ashgabat "Sergi Koshgi" is almost booked. There are major companies from all over the world among the participants: Schneider Electric, Alstom, IEEMA, Elsib, Salut, Zaporozhtransformator, Hydromashservice and may others. The conference program consists reports of General Electric, Siemens, Alstom, Elsib, Salut, ODK and a number of other delegates.
