The 5th International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “The main trends of development of the Power Industry of Turkmenistan”will be held on September 8-10, 2012 at the "Sergi Koshgi" Exhibition Palace. The event has already gained recognition from the industry professionals - representatives of 117 companies from 17 countries worldwide took part in 2011.
Over 20 years of independence Turkmenistan became a self-sufficient, dynamically developing state. Modern Turkmenistan – is a grand building site, 2447 objects are being under construction in the country, $ 48 billion U.S. dollars investments are being absorbed, 374 new socio-economic objects were put into service in 2011 only.
Large-scale projects are underway in the energy industry. The chemical and construction industry extend the range of products, fundamentally new for the country mining, metallurgical and other economic sectors were founded, the electric-power industry gaining strength.
Today, the installed capacity of power grid of Turkmenistan is 4151.7 MW already, including 1792 MW, or 43.2% generated by modern gas turbines.
By 2020, Turkmenistan's electricity production will amount to 27.4 billion kilowatt-hours. According to the strategy of development of the sector by 2030 the electricity production is projected to reach 35.5 billion kw / hour. To achieve the goal four gas turbine combined cycle power plants with total capacity of 1496 MW are scheduled to be build during this period.
The following facts and figures reflect the large-scale development of Turkmenistan power industry in recent years:
• In 2007 - commissioning of a 254 MW Dasoguz gas turbine power station.
• In February 2010, the 254 MW gas turbine power plant "Akhal" started operation in Akhal velayat near Ashgabat.
• In April 2010, the modern 254 megawatts “AWAZA” power station was commissioned in the National Tourism Area on the Caspian Sea coast.
• At the same time new power units at the Balkanabat State Power Station were opened. The Balkanabat Power Station has got two more power units to 127.1 megawatts each, in addition to the three gas turbines available. As a result, the power has tripled and now stands at 380.2 MW.
According to the recently approved Turkmenistan budget in 2012, its revenues amount 74908.4 million manat, and these country's budget revenues will be generated through such important industrial sectors as oil & gas, chemistry, construction and electric power.
The concept of Turkmenistan presidency in the CIS envisages 31 events to be organized in 2012, and 10 of them will be heldin Ashgabat. For example, meetings of the Heads of States Council, the Heads of Governments Council and the Foreign Ministers of CIS member states Council, as well as the Economic Council of the Commonwealth will be heldin Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan to host international conference on energy and food security and the 41st meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council is planned to be held in Turkmenistan as well.
Undoubtedly, the 5th International Exhibition and Conference “The main trends of development of the Power Industry of Turkmenistan” will once again become a meeting place for Turkmenistan electric-power specialists and their colleagues from the CIS and other world countries.
