NewsPresident of Turkmenistan welcomes participants of international oil and gas forum17.11.2009 
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the welcoming statement to participants of the 14th International Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan-2009” and the scientific conference “Development of Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan and International Cooperation in the Epoch of New Revival”, which opened in Ashgabat. The leader of the Turkmen state heartily congratulated participants of the international forum and wished every success to the exhibition and conference expressing belief that they would bring mutually advantageous cooperation up to a new level.
“Such impressive representation of the delegations at the international exhibition and conference that are conducted each year and have become a tradition in our country illustrates that Turkmenistan ranks among the world’s oil and gas states,” the President of Turkmenistan said. “Independent neutral Turkmenistan is always ready for constructive, equitable international cooperation. Our goals are welcomed by global community. This became recognition of Turkmenistan’s international prestige that had enhanced in recent years and evidenced the deeper understanding and support of the friendly foreign policy of our state.” (There are about 160 exhibitors from 28 countries and above 400 conference delegates representing 160 industry organizations from 40 countries).
Addressing the participants of the conference and exhibition Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan, which had the advantageous geopolitical location, exemplified the effective implementation of the profound natural and economic potential in the interests of the present and future generations. The state attaches primary importance to hydrocarbon production and processing, introduction of state-of-the-art equipment and high technologies in production, technology modernization of the oil and gas enterprises, construction and reconstruction of the pipelines.
“The keen interest shown by the participants of the international business forum, which was conducted in Ashgabat this September, representing the foreign investors and large companies, in cooperation with our country in various sectors including oil and gas industry illustrates their attitude to Turkmenistan as a dependable partner,” the Turkmen leader emphasized. “In recent years Turkmenistan draws increasing interest among foreign partners as a country cooperating with many states and meeting the commitments undertaken. Standing steadfast to diversification of international energy cooperation Turkmenistan consistently implements the principles of diversification of transit of energy to world markets.”
Giving the examples of mutually advantageous cooperation the President of Turkmenistan mentioned the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, which would be put into operation at the end of this year, and the Dovletabat-Sarakhs-Hangren (Iran) gas pipeline. “Modernization of the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline and construction of the Trans-Caspian pipeline, which are paramount social and economic importance for many states, will promote strengthening economic contacts, peace and stability on the planet, increasing the welfare of the peoples,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said. “The important tasks of prospecting and exploration of oil and gas fields, mineral resources and processing industries were set to scientists. Their hypotheses and scientific research produce the positive results. The examples include the richest deposits discovered in recent years such as Southern Yoloten, Osman, Yashlar.
Strengthening the resource base of the country through discovering and developing rich oil and gas deposits on the right bank of the Amu Darya River contributes to construction of export pipelines as well as production of oil and gas products, which are in great demand on domestic and foreign markets.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that the forum participants would develop the necessary ways to enhance international cooperation on extraction of mineral resources of Turkmenistan, extension of exploration work and oil and gas processing capacity, further development of pipeline infrastructure.
