NewsGrowth of mastered investments volume11.05.2010 
At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on May 6, 2010 the results gained in the social and economic spheres in January-April and the domestic and foreign policy issues were considered.
The steady GDP growth was achieved in January-March due to an increase in the amount of works as high as 2.3 times in such sectors as construction, transportation and communication. The high growth rates were observed in the commercial sector – 121.2 percent, the services sector – 115 percent, the agricultural sector – 108.2 percent.
In January-April the rates of growth of retail trade made up 116.3 percent.
The revenues of the State Budget were implemented up to 103.9 percent, the expenditures – 91.8 percent. 67.1 percent of the budget funds were used to develop the social sphere.
The volume of investments used including all source of finance made up 157.6 percent as compared to the same period of 2009.
It was noted that the rates of output growth had increased as compared to the same period of 2009 in industry and other sectors.
Rate of growth of oil and gas production made up 100.7 percent, oil and gas refining – 100.2 percent. The Turkmen leader said that oil and gas sector contributed profoundly to the social and economy progress of the country, and it required substantial investments which must be used effectively and ensure increasing returns.
In three months the high rates were achieved in the investment and construction sectors. As compared to the same period of 2009 they increased by 38 percent. Production of non-metallic building materials – 153.1 percent, metal construction – 110 percent, plastic tubes – 137.2 percent.
Other sectors are being developed either: ginned cotton – 118.5 percent, carpets and carpet articles – 105.3 percent, cement – 118 percent, iodine – 104.2 percent, mineral fertilizers – 104 percent, pharmaceutical products – 110.2 percent, tinned meat – 145.3 percent, fish products – 122.3 percent. Small livestock population increased as high as 7.6 times.
Summing up the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the outcomes of the state visit that the Turkmen government delegation to the People’s Republic of China had paid last week. The national leader expressed gratitude to all those who had taken active part in arranging the national exposition at the World Expo 2010.
It should be noted that the main theme of the Shanghai World Exhibition is “Better City, Better Life” is quite close to Turkmenistan which participates in the World Expo for the first time. Today, the white-marble capital of Turkmenistan – Ashgabat is recognized as one of the most beautiful and comfortable cities of the region and the world.
The unprecedented urban development programme launched throughout the country in the epoch of new Revival accumulates the best national and international practices in this sphere.
Turkmen leader emphasized that international forums provided a splendid opportunity to demonstrate impressive economic achievements of modern Turkmenistan to the world. In this regard the Turkmen leader focused on the need to continue the work in this field.
