ONS newsletter May 2010
11.05.2010
At the launch of this year’s OTC the oil and gas industry was given a timely reminder of the risks linked to our activities. The tragic Deepwater Horizon accident serves to demonstrate that we are deluding ourselves if we believe that this event will only impact on work being carried out in the deep water Gulf of Mexico. The accident will have a much wider impact, with obvious consequences for all deep water oil and gas production across the globe.
This year’s ONS Conference programme will direct its major focus on how we can increase oil and gas production in an environmentally sustainable way, and solve the technological challenges facing the industry by transferring experience and technology from other sectors, such as the space industry.
Register for the ONS Conference. We are convinced that our exhibitors will address these issues in no uncertain terms on their stands, and we know that they will be reflected in our four dedicated industry sector parks.
Have you heard about the ONS Parks?
ONS 2010 is proud to present four dedicated industrial sector parks. Each park will showcase those companies, institutions and organisations working within a specialist industrial sector or theme. This year’s dedicated industrial sector parks are:
- CCS Park
- Innovation Park
- Renewable Energy Park
- Space and Energy Park
From Subsea to Space at the ONS Conference
During this year’s ONS Conference we will be focusing on new technologies and how we can close technology gaps by learning from other industries. Two people with extensive experience in revealing how the energy sector can learn from the space industry are Mark Gittelman and Dick Frisbie.
