NewsThe Turkmenistan Constitution day18.05.2010 
Today is the Day of Revival, Unity and the Poetry of Magtymguly in Turkmenistan. On May 18 Turkmenistan marks the adoption of the Turkmen Constitution in 1986. This day was marked as the Day of Revival and Unity until May 18, 1999. Starting in 2000, the holiday was combined with Magtymguly’s Poetry Day, thus emerging under its present name.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated compatriots on the Day of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry.
“This year it is 18 years since the Basic Law – the Constitution of Turkmenistan was adopted,” the congratulatory address said. “The people of Turkmenistan solemnly celebrate the Constitution Day as the holiday of strengthened sovereignty, the holiday of revival, unity and solidarity. On the day of nationwide celebrations the fascinating musical performances will be presented in the parks and at the cultural centres, the exhibitions and meetings will be arranged, the ceremonies of opening social and cultural facilities will be held. Inspiring us and strengthening our confidence in the bright future, this holiday as an unforgettable event will be enchased with golden letters in history.”
“It is deeply symbolic that the date of adopting the Constitution that absorbed the principles of humanism, justice, unity and solidarity of our people is celebrated together with the day dedicated to the poetry of the great Turkmen thinker Magtymguly Fraghi, because the poetry of the great thinker and humanitarian is permeated with the sacred dreams of the nation about the sovereign state, happy life, unity and prosperity.
And 3 day earlier President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Dashoguz Velayat to attend the festivities to be arranged on occasion of the inauguration of important social and cultural facilities.
Turkmen leader inaugurated the newly built Turkmen Agricultural Institute – the first educational institution in the region, several facilities including a school supplied with multimedia equipment and connected to the internet for 600 children, the kindergarten for 160 kids, the Ene Myakhri Medical Centre supplied with state-of-the-art medical equipment, the drinking water plant and the Ruhiyet Palace of 2,800 seats and occupied the area of 6,000 square metres and the 10,000-seat stadium.
All Turkmenistan now has turned, in a literal sense, to one huge building site, one enormous investment project, called to accumulate in itself the best world experience, all achievements of an architectural, nonproduction idea. Within two nearest years hundreds objects for the amount of more than 23,6 billion US dollars will be constructed in Turkmenistan. The country prepares for celebrating twentieth anniversary of Independence forthcoming in October, 2011.
