Building boom in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is rich not only in resources but also, above all, sincere, friendly and diligent people. A conspicuous evidence of that are the preliminary results of the social and economic development for the past five months of 2010 which were reviewed at the recent government meeting.
In January-April, the GDP growth rates rose in the construction sector 2.2 times and made up 158.4 percent in the transport and communications sector, 116.4 percent in the trade sector, 111.9 percent in the services sector and 108.3 percent in the agricultural sector. As compared to the same period of 2009, the volume of investments drawn from all sources of financing increased to 153 percent.
Focusing on the particular role of the construction and power industries in achieving sustainable development of the national economy, the President emphasized with satisfaction the results achieved in these sectors since the beginning of the year. This was illustrated by a number of new facilities including industrial enterprises, gas-turbine power plants, children’s health improvement and recreation centres, healthcare, educational and pre-school institutions and apartment houses constructed throughout the country.
Touching upon the issues related to further development of the Avaza national tourism zone, the President said that each of the ministries and departments of the country should have health improvement and recreation centres on the Caspian seashore. It is necessary to carry out the necessary work on construction of new recreation centres on the Caspian seashore, announce tenders and launch construction of new buildings and facilities in Avaza, the President said that the relevant these issues would be considered during a government meeting within the next few weeks.
Balkan Velayat Khyakim O. Nyyazlyev presented the projects of construction of buildings and facilities in the Avaza national tourism zone including health improvement and recreation centres for adults and children, which would be built by each of the regions of the country, and the draft designs of the centres, which would be built by the departments of the agricultural, transport and communications, construction and energy, financial and economic, educational, health care and sports sectors, to the President for consideration.
Also, it was planned to construct such important facilities as the Exhibition Palace at the request of the textile and trade departments and the Palace of Congress (the oil and gas sector) the complexes of buildings would be constructed fore the Mejlis, the MFA, the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting.
The Turkmen leader said that new buildings and facilities should blend well with the unique natural landscape in the Avaza national tourism zone and contribute to the originality and unique beauty of the world-class resort pearl being created on the seashore. The Turkmen leader instructed to intensify the work on allocation of lands for construction and carry out construction tenders.
Further development of the building and construction industry of Turkmenistan and high demands towards quality of construction works are going hand in hand with use of advances technologies, equipment and services to be exhibited by participants of specialized trade shows in Ashgabat.
