Turkish investment in Turkmenistan exceeds $7 billion

Turkish businessmen have invested more than $7 billion in Turkmenistan, Maksat Dövletsahedov, the Turkmen ambassador to Turkey, has said.
Dövletsahedov, speaking to the Anatolia news agency on Monday, May 24 in the southeastern province of Mersin’s Erdemli district, where he attended a meeting organized by the Joint Administration of Turkic Culture and Art (TÜRKSOY) and the Erdemli Municipality, expressed satisfaction over the developing social and economic ties between Turkey and Turkmenistan. “There are currently around 600 Turkish companies operating in Turkmenistan,” he said, adding: “These companies have undertaken almost 800 projects so far. The monetary value of Turkish businessmen’s investments in Turkmenistan has exceeded $7 billion.”
The trade volume between the two countries is also on the rise, the ambassador stated, with Turkmenistan exporting natural gas and electricity to Turkey. Recalling that Turkey was the first country to recognize Turkmenistan when it declared its independence and opened the first embassy in Turkmenistan, Dövletsahedov said the two countries would further improve their relations.
